The Sterile Processing Transport Assistant supports the Sterile Processing Department by transporting equipment and supplies to and from the surgical service department.In this role, you will collaborate directly with the CSP team and Surgical/OR team tofacilitateunit organization, needmanagementand instrumentation delivery.Without this essential andcriticalwork, the surgery room could not function properly.

A caregiver in this position worksevenings from 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Deliver clean/sterile supplies to surgery.

• Return supplies back to Sterile Processing andrestocksterile supplies inappropriatearea.

• Transport Surgery case cartsin a timely manner.

• Transport Soiled case carts from Surgery to Sterile ProcessingDecontam.

• Deliversupplies and Instruments to the Surgical Suites upon request.

• Pick up soiled items from ancillary departments asrequested.

• Drop off clean items to ancillary departments asrequested.

• Assist withCleaning ofEquipment.

• Demonstrate proper hand hygiene

• Follow Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

• Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• HighSchoolDiploma or equivalent GED

• Critical thinking, multi-taskingand effective reading andwritingskills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Ability to walk up to 28,000 steps per shift

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping and reaching for prolong periods of time.
• Ability to lift instrumentation and linen packs weighing 25 pounds or more on a continual basis.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform basic functions of position.
• Ability to push, pull and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
• Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
