Weston Hospital is seeking to add a Nurse Manager to its Emergency Department. Our ED features multidisciplinary care teams and state-of-the-art technology to diagnose and treat patients effectively 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department operates in a fast-paced environment, providing rapid, expert care for time-sensitive conditions such as sepsis and stroke. In this role, you will manage the practice of professional nursing and the delivery of nursing care within the unit, as well as establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery. Through collaboration with other caregivers and the use of strong critical thinking, multitasking, and nursing skills, you will help ensure appropriate patient care from start to finish. Your dedication and leadership will help enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.

  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinicalsupervisionandmaintainquality outcomes and patient care standards.

  • Identifyand resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.

  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.

  • Develop andmaintainunit-related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.

  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.

  • Analyze personnel structure anddeterminestaffing needs and mix.

  • Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conductselectionand terminationprocessand develop strategic plans.

  • Actively promote staff and self-development.

  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.

  • Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.

  • Approve purchases andestablishor revise inventory quotes.

  • Assistin the development and monitoring ofbudget.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing(BSN)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire

  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience

  • High degree of clinicalexpertisein the specialty area

  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Five years of ED experience

  • Three years of Assistant Nurse Manager experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.

  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.

  • Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
