The Director of Pharmacy – Medication Assistance and Medication Access provides strategic and operational leadership for pharmacy prior authorization, revenue integrity, and medication access initiatives across both pharmacy and medical benefit spaces. This role oversees a large, growing team with direct and indirect reports, driving efforts to improve reimbursement outcomes by analyzing claim denials, identifying trends, and implementing solutions that enhance financial performance. Responsibilities include optimizing workflows and standard operating procedures, developing performance metrics, approving high-cost medication purchasing, and supporting contracting and payment strategies. The director also leads programs that ensure patient access to medications through drug replacement and free drug programs, while partnering across teams to improve access to high-cost therapies, including oncology infusions, and strengthen overall financial and operational outcomes.

A caregiver in this position will work remote, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with the expectation to come onsite up to one day per week with no weekend or holiday expectations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Be responsible fordepartment planning and supervising all pharmacy personnel.
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budget, assuming leadership of drug expenseportion.
  • Designsystems toensurethe Pharmacy Department meets all existing standards.
  • Develop, implement, direct, andmonitorpharmaceutical care services.
  • Design quality programs evaluating drugutilizationand pharmacy services.
  • Evaluate efficiency and safety of pharmacy services.
  • Recommend programs to enhance performance while staying abreast of current trends.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Advanced degree: PharmD, Master of Science or Master of Business Administration
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in the current state or within90 daysof hire.
  • Three years of management or supervisory experience with direct reports.
  • 10 years in an equivalent rolewithina health system environment may substitute the advanced degree requirement.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Residency-trained.
  • Experience in a large, tertiary care medical center

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical demands include periods of standing and walking.
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions and communication via telephone.
  • May be required to lift and transport up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $130,850.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $209,382.50
