    Radiation therapy, along with chemotherapy and surgery, is one of the most important tools we use to treat cancer. With targeted beams of energy, radiation therapy zeroes in on cancerous cells while sparing as much healthy tissue around it as possible. By joining theRadiationOncology team asanRN, you will provideexceptionalcare topatients inneed of treatment.In this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitors, offering education to the patientsregardingcondition or diagnoses and helping the patient have an overall pleasant experience.While building lasting relationships with patients and healthcare staff, you can also pursue individual growth developments, such as advanced education,cross training, and earning national certifications.

    A caregiver in this position worksdaysfrom 8:00 a.m. –4:30 p.m.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
    • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, andestablishcare plans.
    • Administer medication and treatments.
    • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
    • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
    • Assistwith specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures, and specialized patient care equipment.
    • Develop, evaluate,adaptand document health education and provide it to patients and families.
    • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
    • May require travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures in various locations.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
    • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
    • One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
    • Cancer specific certification ordemonstrateongoing qualifying education within thetimeframeof the facilities accreditation cycle
    • Current demonstrated clinical competence

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    • Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • Med/Surg or Oncology experience

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
    • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
    • May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
    • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
    • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
