The Cardiovascular and Vascular Intensive Care Units specialize in the post-operative acute care of patients requiring heart surgery, open and endovascularthoracoand abdominal aneurysm repairs, as well as thoracic and other vascular surgical procedures. All post-operative patients come directly from the operating room and are recovered, stabilized, weaned, and extubated in these units. The unit accepts complex patients from other facilities that may have had surgical complications, or those needing further evaluation for patients that other facilities may not have considered to be surgical candidates. The patient population is diverse with complex medical problemsthat may require IABP therapy, CRRT, and thrombolytic therapy.
A caregiver in this positionworksdays| full-time| 7:00am—7:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight,assistingpatients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesand removing urinary Foley catheters.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, 3mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)will be considered
Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $19.25
Maximum hourly: $25.95
