Following surgeryand endoscopicprocedures, patients are taken to theEndoscopyPost-Anesthesia Care Unit where caregiversmonitortheir progress inrecovering fromthe immediate effects of surgery and anesthesia.As an RN on this team, you willutilizeyour nursing experience to provide compassionate care as patients return to health.In this role, you can make a difference in the lives of patients and their families every day.

A caregiver in this position works days with flex start times from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. including on-call and weekend rotation with hours from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Assess, plan,implementandevaluatecare for a given patient population.
  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patientconditionand respond appropriately.
  • Developand update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans ofcareand serve as a patient advocate.
  • Provide nursing care, administer treatments/medication anddocument.
  • Participatein ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes
  • Contribute to the improvement ofcareandparticipatein the quality improvement process.
  • Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resourceperson, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications,maintainapplicable certification/licensureand obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
  • Assess patient status,communicateand document pertinent informationregardingpatient condition and changes in conditionandprioritize patient care needs.
  • Performcalmly and professionallyduring crisis or emergencies, learn new routines quickly and develop,documentand provide comprehensive discharge planning and teaching for patients and families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accreditedSchool ofProfessionalNursing(ADN or BSN program)
  • Current stateof Ohiolicensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Certifications

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sofScience inNursing (BSN)
  • Critical care background
  • PACU/ICU experience


Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
