As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patientsas well asverifyinformationand collect copays. You are the first person the patient will interact with once they are throughsecurity,and you will set the tone for how the visit goes. Patients are not at their best during an Emergency Department visit, makingempathyavitaltrait for this caregiver to have.Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients,physiciansand family members.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:00PM. Please note that if selected, the first 2 weeks will be designated for EPIC training. This training will be Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Candidates who are interested will need to be available for the full training in order to be considered.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
Crosstrain tostaffall areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office,EDand cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource fortraining ofnew caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
HighSchoolDiploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role
OR anAssociate’sDegreeand one year of experience
OR aBachelor’sDegree
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
